No Rainbow...

Hip Hop artist, due to their machismo, have coined the term "no homo", to be used after a statement if it sounds a little skeptical. To me, if you have to say "no homo" after every statement, I'm thinking you're secretly "homo" and you're trying to hide something you don't want us to know.

I'm not ragging on gays, lesbians or anyone who chooses or is born the way they are. I just want to make something known...just because we [the individual] don't understand or don't relate to the alternate lifestyle, does not make us homophobic. My homie Brook says we should retire "no homo" and utilize "no rainbow" instead...I agree, it is less harsh and abrasive, however, it connotes the same sentiment; you're still hiding from something. I believe we need to learn how to live in harmony with each other and stop scapegoating others because of your own actions. Just because it may seem gay when you did it, doesn't mean a gay person would. In fact, you should be worrying about why you think what you as a straight man or woman just did, seems gay to you. Is it that you have deep-seeded gay issues that you're now becoming aware of? I suggest you seek counseling and get to the bottom of that.

I can't say that I'm friends with any openly gay people. I know a few people, who have openly gay emotions, however, I don't know of them dating or seeing anyone of the same sex currently [these are women, by the way]. However, double-standards abound, it's easier for me to accept gay women than it is to accept gay men...I just can't relate to man-on-man action, and that's speaking truthfully. Women loving women is every guys fantasy, unless of course, you're gay. But where does that come from? In any event, "no homo" or "no rainbow" or "pause" is only an indication to society that you think what you just said was gay...when did this happen, that words you speak can make you gay...all this time I thought it was your actions!

Then again, after seeing that "Gay Wine" video from Pretty Ricky's own Spectacular...I can see why Hip Hop is worried about what they say and do!!!
